JAMSHEDPUR – Red Cross branches across Jharkhand will soon intensify humanitarian programs, with a focus on blood donation drives.
The Indian Red Cross Society’s activities across Jharkhand are set to gain momentum as district branches ramp up their humanitarian efforts.
Bijay Kumar Singh, the Honorary Secretary of the East Singhbhum branch of the Red Cross Society, provided this update following a meeting at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi with Dr. Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Principal Secretary to the Governor and Secretary of the Jharkhand State Branch of the Red Cross.
Singh emphasized that all district branches will be aligning their activities with the core objectives of the Red Cross, aiming to deliver timely services to those in need.
"Dr. Kulkarni is committed to standardizing Red Cross activities across the state, particularly in areas such as blood donation, cataract surgeries, health camps, and emergency ambulance services," Singh stated.
To achieve this, Singh discussed the formation of a state-level committee and proposed meetings with district branches to ensure coordination.
He also extended an invitation to Dr. Kulkarni to serve as the chief guest at the massive blood donation drive organized by the East Singhbhum Red Cross on National Blood Donation Day, October 1st, which Dr. Kulkarni graciously accepted.
In response to the growing threat of mosquito-borne diseases, the East Singhbhum branch of the Red Cross has urged blood and component donors to stay prepared.
Prabhunath Singh, the Single Donor Platelet (SDP) Donation In-Charge, has been actively coordinating with component donors to ensure timely platelet availability for patients in need.
Over the past two days, six patients received platelets in a timely manner, thanks to the efforts of dedicated donors.
Among them, Pankaj Kumar, a Tata Steel employee, donated for the second time, while Union Committee member Manoj Mishra made his 11th donation. Regular donor A. Alam contributed for the 18th time, Tata Steel’s Arun Kumar Singh for the 22nd time, and Siddharth Suman for the 11th time.
Prabhunath Singh, along with senior medical officers Dr. Rita Singh and Dr. Nirjala Jha, and Sanjay Chaudhary, General Manager of Jamshedpur Blood Bank, honored these donors with mementos as a token of appreciation.
The Honorary Secretary of the East Singhbhum Red Cross Society expressed deep gratitude to the donors, stating, "The contribution of blood donors in serving humanity is invaluable."
