Shyamnagar Sluice Gate Falls Apart, Leaves Mango’s Sankosai Flooded

Jamshedpur’s Mango’s Sankosai faces severe flooding due to the collapse of Shyamnagar sluice gate, which has deteriorated due to neglect.

JAMSHEDPUR – The residents of Mango’s Sankosai are in a state of panic as an increased population of snakes and scorpions are being reported in the area, which is still submerged in water.

Locals have highlighted that despite several pleas, the drain has not been cleaned, exacerbating the situation by restricting water drainage.

The Deputy Commissioner was alerted to the dire situation by BJP leader Vikas Singh, who was informed by the locals in hope of finding a resolution.

Just two days prior, as the river’s water level rose, residents were already preparing to move.

The incomplete work of about 50 feet has further worsened the situation, facilitating the river water to easily reach the residential locality.

The river proves to be of no help during these times of increased water level, as it results in the water reaching the settlement.

Local residents claim that the Shyamnagar sluice gate’s current disarray is a consequence of constant negligence.

Recently, due to rising water levels in the river, residents have been on edge, with the local youth keeping night-long vigil to monitor the situation.

After hours of efforts, the sluice gate, which has completely deteriorated due to a lack of maintenance, only managed to drop by an inch.
