Church School Beldih Emerges Victor at CISCE Zonal Carrom Tourney 2023

At the CISCE Zonal Carrom Tournament 2023, Church School Beldih students stood out, clinching victory in both singles and doubles categories.

JAMSHEDPUR – The bright sparks from Church School Beldih dominated the carrom boards at the CISCE Zonal Carrom Tournament 2023, held at J.H. Tarapore School.

Distinguished individuals from 26 schools made their way to the battleground for this classic board game, demonstrating an impressive skill set over the course of three riveting days.

Among the boys, Abir Bag of Church School Beldih outplayed all competitors, securing the top spot in singles. He was followed by Ayush Kumar from Vig School and Jayant Karan, also from Church School Beldih.

In the girls’ singles category, Payal Ghosh from Church School Beldih led the chart, with Sonam Jha from the same school securing second place and Prachi Pattnaik from KPS Gamharia bagging the third position.

Church School Beldih’s carrom enthusiasts didn’t stop there. Rehan Alam and Gaurav Agarwal from the school emerged triumphant in the boys’ doubles category, outshining their opponents Deepanshu Pal and Sourav Kumar Pandey from KPS Gamharia, who settled for second place, and Om Narayan Mishra and Amrit Kumar from Carmel Junior College who clinched the third spot.

In the girls’ doubles category, Izma Israr and Saima Shahid of Church School Beldih emerged victorious, followed by Anshika Mangaraj and Alisha Bharti of J.H. Tarapore School, and Naeema Khan and Sufia Naaz of KPS Mango.

The event was graced by Anand Louis Menezes, Senior Manager at Tata Steel’s Sports Department, and Olympian, as the chief guest.

Accompanying him were L. Nageshwar Rao from the Tata Steel Karate Centre and Priti Sinha, the principal of Gulmohar High School and the zonal coordinator of Jamshedpur Zone.

The keenly observed selection process involved multiple stages, all meticulously designed to appraise the wide-ranging skill set and capabilities of the participants.

The top brass of J.H. Tarapore School, including Director Rubina Bodhanwala, Principal Lata Sharat, and Vice-Principal Rukshana H. Gardin, expressed their gratitude for the enthusiastic response and participation from the students.

The tournament began on a high note, spotting exceptional talents who are expected to shine in the world of carrom, as observed by V. Arun Kumar, the head of the sports department at J.H. Tarapore School.
