Key Points:

- Bhadani Nagar OP in-charge Akhtar Ali confirms it is a road accident case

RAMGARH – Two young men were killed in the early hours after the motorcycle they were riding smashed into a road divider on the Patratu-Ramgarh main road near Bongada, under the Bhadani Nagar outpost area in Ramgarh district.
Villagers discovered the bodies at the crash site early in the morning. Bhadani Nagar OP in-charge Akhtar Ali said that on the basis of an initial examination, the case appeared to be a straightforward road accident. He said both motorcyclists died as a result of the collision with the divider.
However, the crash has reignited a long-standing safety concern among residents. Villagers told reporters that accidents on this particular stretch were a recurring problem. Moreover, they said they had raised the issue with the nagar parishad on multiple occasions, specifically demanding that lights be installed near the divider and that speed breakers be placed along the stretch.
On the other hand, their demands had gone unaddressed. The nagar parishad had not acted on any of the safety requests, locals alleged. The absence of road safety infrastructure near dividers has been a factor in multiple fatal crashes across Jharkhand in recent months.
The Bhadani Nagar police took custody of both bodies and sent them for post-mortem. The identities of both deceased have been established by the police.
The Patratu area falls under Ramgarh district and the road connecting it to Ramgarh town is a busy arterial corridor. In addition, the Bhadani Nagar outpost is conducting further investigation into the accident. Besides the immediate probe, Ramgarh district has seen increased administrative attention to law and order in recent months. Meanwhile, road safety enforcement on this stretch remained a pending concern even before this fatal crash.
The Ramgarh police have registered the case and further investigation is under way.
