Devendra Nath Mahto Says Merit Is Being Sidelined for Money in Job Selections

PAKUR – Student leader Devendra Nath Mahto arrived in Pakur on Saturday as part of a campaign demanding reforms in the recruitment system.
He was pressing for improvements in hiring procedures and transparent appointments. Youths and students at the event extended their support to him.
They too raised demands for greater transparency in the recruitment process. Mahto made serious allegations concerning the JPSC-JSSC hiring system during the visit.
“People are buying jobs by paying money in JPSC-JSSC, while hardworking students are left wandering from pillar to post,” he said. He alleged that merit was being sidelined in favour of money-based appointments.
This trend, he claimed, was harming the future of Jharkhand’s educated unemployed youth. Mahto demanded that the state government order a fair investigation into the recruitment processes.
He also called for ensuring complete transparency in all appointments. Meanwhile, the student leader clarified that his struggle was not against any particular individual.
Instead, he said it was directed against a system that undermines the rights of hardworking youths. Mahto said the movement would continue for the rights of youths from villages, farmers, labourers, tribal and indigenous communities, and backward sections of society.
Speaking from Pakur, he thanked the youths for their support. He added that the call for recruitment reform would be carried to every village and every young person across Jharkhand.
