Protests in Jamshedpur Over Manipur Violence, Effigies of Govt Burnt
Continued protests in Jamshedpur over a rape case in Manipur have escalated, with the United Left parties burning effigies of the Manipur government and Prime Minister Modi.
JAMSHEDPUR – Protests against the Manipur and Central Government continue in Jamshedpur following a rape incident in Manipur that recently came to light through a viral video causing nationwide uproar .
Today, the United Left parties escalated the demonstrations, burning effigies at Baridih Golchakkar.
The effigies represented the Manipur government and Prime Minister Modi.
The protestors unanimously condemned the incident in Manipur, placing the blame on the Manipur government and the central government.
CPI’s district secretary Ambuj Thakur criticized the BJP for what he claimed was politics of hatred.
According to him, the state of Manipur has been in turmoil for two consecutive months due to such politics, leading to an unsafe environment for women.
He asserted that the left party will not tolerate this situation.
The protestors also demanded the imposition of President’s rule in Manipur, in addition to the dismissal of the Manipur government.
