Indian Railways Introduces System for Locating Stations Linked to Well-Known Places
With Indian Railways’ new tool, travelers can easily locate stations associated with well-known locations, streamlining the ticket purchasing process.
JAMSHEDPUR – Indian Railways has inaugurated a new tool designed to simplify the process of locating railway stations and purchasing tickets.
Travelers who may not be acquainted with the exact names of stations can now quickly order tickets through this innovative solution, which connects station names with well-known locales.
The new facility came into operation today.
As per Railway Board spokespersons, this tool will significantly ease the process of identifying small stations linked with famous areas.
An official explained that the tool will advise passengers of the relevant location in addition to the station when planning a journey.
For instance, small stations like Sarnath are associated with well-known locations like Banaras, Sabarmati with Ahmedabad, Panvel with Mumbai, and so forth.
According to the spokesperson, this innovative solution will enhance journey planning and offer a more personalized experience to passengers when buying tickets through the online portal or mobile application.
It will simplify the process of station discovery for travelers and connect satellite cities with their closest railway stations.
The official noted that about 725 stations have been associated with 175 renowned cities and regions.
The scheme also involves linking satellite towns like Noida with major railway centers such as New Delhi.
These linkages will eliminate confusions, as local or popular names often differ from the official railway station names.
These modifications have been included in the station search function of the online ticket purchasing platform’s travel planner.
Both the travel planner and the electronic reservation slip will display these features.
The tool will also facilitate improved planning of future trains and station facilities, thanks to the creation of a Management Information System (MIS).
