Over 30,000 Women Benefit from Phulo Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan in Jharkhand
The Phulo Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan, a government-led initiative for empowering women involved in the sale and manufacture of bones and liquor, has benefitted over 30,000 women, bringing about a significant change in their lives.
RANCHI – The Phulo Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan, a government-led initiative for empowering women involved in the sale and manufacture of bones and liquor, has benefitted over 30,000 women, bringing about a significant change in their lives.
The program, which began on September 20, 2020, has successfully transitioned 30,013 women involved in the sale and production of bones and liquor to alternative, respectable livelihoods. These women have now become inspirational figures in society, demonstrating the possibilities of change.
The Phulo Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan was launched following the Chief Minister’s instructions to provide decent livelihoods to women engaged in the sale and production of liquor and bones. The first phase of the initiative began in September 2020. A survey identified 15,284 women engaged in these occupations. Following an awareness campaign, 14,243 of these women were redirected towards alternative, respectable occupations. They received a total of Rs 1,424.3 lakh in interest-free loans during this phase.
The second phase of the campaign, conducted from November 15, 2021, to December 28, 2021, identified 9,474 women. Of these, 9,291 women were successfully transitioned to alternative occupations and provided Rs 929.1 lakh in interest-free funds. Thus, over the two phases, a total of Rs 2,353.4 lakh was disbursed to women for self-employment.
The campaign continues to identify women engaged in the sale and production of bones and liquor across the state. So far, it has successfully provided better life opportunities to 30,013 women.
