Amrita Vakharia Steps in as New Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City President

New leadership takes reins at Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City, Amrita Vakharia as president, underlines commitment to community development.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City welcomed its new president, Amrita Vakharia, in a grand installation event organized by Vakharia and Secretary Preeti Khara.

SSP Jamshedpur Prabhat Kumar and Guest of Honour Dist Secretary 3250 Rtn. Anju Gandotra were the chief guests for the evening.

Vakharia was sworn in as the president of RCJ Steel City for the tenure of 2023–2024 in the presence of a constellation of district officials, previous district chairpersons, club presidents, secretaries, and representatives from various other organizations.

The executive team for the year 2023-24 was also introduced, which included President-elect Nikita Mehta (for 2024–25), Secretary Rtn. Preeti Khara, Foundation Director Rtn. Deepak Dokania, Generation Director Rtn. Simran Saggu, Club Advisor Rtn. Smita Parikh, Club Trainer Alpa Parikh, Joint Secretary Rtn. Sukanya Das, Treasurer Rtn. Krishna Kharia, Bulletin Editor Rtn. Umang Jhunjhunwala, and Service Director Nikita Mehta.

The event commenced with the national anthem and the lighting of a lamp.

Vakharia, who was introduced as the new president by Shivam Goel, emphasized her focus on mental health awareness, eradicating sickle cell anemia, facilitating clubfoot and heart surgeries, undertaking community tree planting drives, and initiating sustainable projects for the local community in her address.

She urged her board members to collaborate and ensure the success of these endeavors.

The chief guest for the ceremony expressed gratitude to the new team and its members for their dedicated and selfless service.

The theme for 2023–2024 is ‘Create Hope in the World’.

In line with this theme, Jade plants, symbolizing growth, wealth, health, and harmony, were presented to all the guests.

The event also saw the participation of about five former district governors from Rotary Dist 3250, and welcomed two new members to the club.
