New reading initiative launched by Youth Unity for Voluntary Action Yuva and JMP encourages community participation.

JAMSHEDPUR – Local social organization Youth Unity for Voluntary Action Yuva and Facebook group JMP launched a new reading initiative at Jubilee Park.

A group of 15 individuals gathered to collectively read a book in the public space, marking the beginning of this program.

Barnali Chakraborty emphasized the importance of reading in the digital age, highlighting the growing tendency for people to shift their focus from books to mobile phones.

She explained that this initiative aims to encourage parents to read more and in turn, inspire their children to adopt the same habit.

The program is set to take place on the third Sunday of every month.

Arbind Tiwari, founder of Yuva and headmaster of Tangrain School, addressed the gathering and expressed his concern about the declining reading habits among the populace.

He noted that this is leading to a decrease in creative thinking and innovative potential.

The event was attended by various community members, including Narendra Kumar, Manvinder Kaur, Subhojit Ghosh and his wife Arpita Srivastava, Neeta Bose of JMP with her children, and Shivani Giri with her son.
