Passengers queued for Tatkal tickets create chaos after the reservation center’s link fails at Tatanagar station.
JAMSHEDPUR – The reservation center link at the second entry gate of Tatanagar station failed in the late morning hours on Tuesday.
This led to frustration among passengers who had been waiting in line for Tatkal tickets since the night before.
The passengers created a commotion upon learning about the system failure after hours of queuing and sleep deprivation.
Several passengers were overheard expressing their dissatisfaction with the railway system.
The link failure lasted for approximately an hour.
Upon noticing the disturbance, the booking clerk alerted the RPF, who managed to pacify the irate passengers.
According to sources, the Railways has implemented a cloud-based reservation system which serves four counters, while one counter runs on the old PRS system.
Due to the failure of the link at the four counters, passengers congregated at the single functioning counter, causing overcrowding and pushing and shoving.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first instance of link failure, which has repeatedly inconvenienced not only passengers but also booking clerks, especially during Tatkal hours.
