CSIR-NML Organizes Educational Visit for Local Schools as part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav Campaign
As part of the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav Campaign, CSIR-NML in Jamshedpur organizes an educational visit for local schools to encourage scientific interest among students and awareness about intellectual property rights.
JAMSHEDPUR – On 14th July 2023, CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) in Jamshedpur hosted an educational visit for local schools.
The visit was organized under the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav Campaign and conducted via the CSIR-Jigyasa Virtual Lab integration program.
The initiative aimed at connecting with school teachers and students, fostering their curiosity about science, making learning more engaging, and raising awareness about intellectual property rights.
Approximately 190 students from Xavier Public School, DBMS English School, and Xavier’s English School in Jamshedpur attended, accompanied by eight teachers.
The event began with a welcome address from Dr. Mita Tarafder, Senior Most Chief Scientist & Head of KRIT Division, CSIR-NML, where she introduced CSIR and highlighted various research activities undertaken by the laboratory.
Dr. Animesh Jana, Senior Scientist and PL of CSIR Jigyasa Virtual Laboratory Project, delivered a lecture on the CSIR-NML Jigyasa Program and its diverse activities.
The day was filled with tours of research laboratories, including AAC, Creep, and Engineering workshops, as well as the CSIR-NML museum, archive, and library.
In addition, students and teachers attended a lecture on "Intellectual Property (IP) Rights-An awareness program for school students" held by the RPBD Division of CSIR-NML. Dr. S.K. Pal, Chief Scientist & Head of RPBD Division, CSIR-NML addressed the attendees, while Dr. Sreeda P, Senior Scientist, RPBD Division, and Mr. K. Sudhakara Rao, Technical Officer, RPBD Division, discussed the importance of intellectual property rights.
The day concluded with a science quiz, stimulating the students’ knowledge and interest in science.
