JAMSHEDPUR – District Congress President Anand Bihari Dubey led a delegation to the General Manager’s office on Wednesday, securing compensation and employment promises for a Barigodia electrocution victim’s family.
A person died recently after touching an electrified iron support pole. Village head Sunita Nag and local residents informed Dubey about the incident. However, the tragedy could have been prevented with timely action.
Dubey visited the incident site and gathered information from villagers. He scheduled a meeting with the Electricity General Manager for 12:30 PM Wednesday. Moreover, district council members and village heads participated in discussions.
The delegation highlighted that a goat had died four days earlier. Village representatives had informed the department about the electrical hazard. On the other hand, departmental negligence led to the human casualty.
The deceased was the family’s sole breadwinner supporting elderly mother and children. His widow and two children face financial difficulties without income. Besides, the family requires immediate support for survival.
General Manager agreed to provide compensation following departmental guidelines. The electricity department will also offer personal assistance to the grieving family. However, additional support measures were discussed during negotiations.
Dubey demanded employment for the victim’s widow during the meeting. The General Manager promised meter reading training and temporary job placement. Furthermore, departmental cooperation ensures family rehabilitation through practical assistance.
District President noted 40 poles lying uninstalled for three months. The department committed to beginning reinstallation within 10 days. Moreover, survey work will precede proper pole installation procedures.
Dubey raised concerns about bamboo poles carrying electricity in the area. Such arrangements create dangerous conditions threatening public safety. Besides, proper concrete poles will replace temporary installations.
The General Manager confirmed adequate pole availability for replacement work. Immediate survey and installation procedures will commence shortly. However, dilapidated poles require urgent replacement to prevent future accidents.
District Council member Kusum Purti and Village Head Association President Rakesh Chandra Murmu attended. State Secretary Rakesh Kumar Tiwari and JMM leader Bahadur Kisku participated. Moreover, numerous villagers witnessed the successful negotiations.
