Following a catastrophic accident on NH-33 in Chandil, Seraikela, a car burst into flames, raising questions about emergency response times in the region.
CHANDIL – An accident on the Tata-Ranchi National Highway caused panic in Dalma Chowk, Shahrabeda area of Chandil police station, Seraikela district, late Sunday night.
A car attempting to avoid a motorcyclist lost control, hit a divider, crossed into another lane and collided with an unidentified highway, resulting in a massive fire.
Both occupants of the car were severely burnt, but they are currently stable, while the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries.
The injured were rushed to a hospital in Jamshedpur by locals, who also contributed to managing the fire.
As a result of the accident, traffic on one lane of the road was disrupted for a considerable duration.
Chandil police station in-charge Ajit Kumar arrived at the scene to investigate the accident shortly after being informed.
However, the fire engine failed to arrive for approximately 50 minutes, resulting in the car being completely incinerated.
While the fire was eventually extinguished, concerns have arisen about the late arrival of the fire brigade, which might have prevented total destruction of the vehicle.
