Minor Traffic Accident Sparks Clash Between Two Communities in Ranchi
A minor collision between a scooty and a bike in Ranchi’s Harmu market escalates into a violent clash between two communities, leaving several shopkeepers injured.
JAMSHEDPUR – A seemingly minor traffic incident in Ranchi’s Harmu market spiralled into a violent clash between two communities late on Saturday night.
After a collision between a scooty and a bike, a dispute between the two parties escalated rapidly, with 15 to 20 people allegedly armed with sticks assaulting local shopkeepers.
During the clash, four to five shopkeepers were seriously injured.
The incident occurred around 8:30 pm, when a speeding bike damaged a Scooty parked on the road, owned by Ashish Kumar, director of Ashish Studio.
Upon requesting compensation from the bike rider, a heated argument ensued, resulting in a group of 15 to 20 people assaulting Ashish Kumar.
In the wake of the heightened tension, local law enforcement swiftly deployed a large police force in the area as a precautionary measure.
An FIR has been lodged against 10 to 12 individuals, all of whom are residents of Bhatta Mohalla and are known to operate meat and chicken shops in the Harmu market.
Commenting on the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party’s state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev blamed the Hemant Soren government’s appeasement policy for the escalating conflicts between the two communities.
