Adityapur Extortion Case: Shopkeepers Live in Fear, Demand Security

Criminal elements demand extortion from Adityapur cloth shopkeepers causing panic. Shopkeepers close shops in protest and appeal to police for protection.

ADITYAPUR – In a shocking incident barely 100 meters from the Adityapur police station, a cloth shopkeeper was subjected to extortion attempts.

The perpetrators, who are allegedly linked to a notorious criminal K Khan, have wreaked havoc among the local cloth merchants.

The criminals demanded a weekly ‘protection’ fee, threatening that if it wasn’t paid, the drug business in the area would continue unabated.

This situation has arisen in the Dindli market under the jurisdiction of the Adityapur police station.

Last night, K Khan’s son and four of his friends arrived at Prem Kumar’s cloth shop, demanding extortion and physically assaulting the shopkeeper when he refused.

This violent incident prompted the local shopkeepers to close their businesses in protest.

The scared merchants surrounded the police station, asking for protection against the growing criminal activities threatening their lives and properties.

In response, Rajan Kumar, the in-charge officer at the Adityapur police station, conducted an inspection of the market and reassured the shopkeepers that no criminal would be let loose, and that the police would provide necessary security.

Prem Kumar, a shopkeeper, revealed that K Khan Khan, known for his notorious activities, has ascended the criminal ladder through petty theft and robbery.

Currently, three of K Khan’s brothers, his wife, and a son are behind bars for various crimes.

The shopkeepers claimed that since the night of June 22, K Khan’s younger son has consistently been threatening many of them and demanding extortion, instilling panic among the local community.
