Corruption Doubts Over PM Awas Yojana Project in Jamshedpur

Former MLA Exposes Substandard Construction, Demands Swift Action from Authorities

Amidst affordable housing initiatives, corruption allegations mar Prime Minister’s dream project in Jamshedpur. Ex-MLA conducts surprise inspection, exposes substandard construction and demands immediate action.

JAMSHEDPUR – Kunal Sarangi, Jharkhand Pradesh BJP spokesperson and former MLA, raised alarm bells as he conducted a surprise inspection on the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Urban) project underway in Birsanagar.

Revealing shocking irregularities, Sarangi demanded immediate action from Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri and the Special Officer of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Sanjay Kumar.

Sarangi’s inspection was prompted by complaints from beneficiaries, who raised questions on the quality of construction materials being used.

During his inspection, Sarangi discovered that putty was being applied on walls instead of plaster.

When questioned, the contractor’s representative claimed that this deviation was approved by JUDCO but failed to provide written authorization for the same.

Sarangi reported the violations to Deputy Commissioner Bhajantri and Special Officer Kumar over the phone, insisting that those responsible for these irregularities should be held accountable.

He urged for immediate action, including the blacklisting of negligent contractors and an independent inspection by the Deputy Commissioner to ensure compliance.

This investigation casts a shadow over the ambitious housing project aimed at providing affordable homes to the urban poor.

As of now, construction for 7372 houses has begun, with targets to complete some by Diwali, under the project which initially aims to construct 9592 houses in 32 blocks in Jamshedpur.

The former MLA has emphasized that corruption and malpractice will not be tolerated in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project.

Accompanying Sarangi during the inspection were key BJP figures such as District Spokesperson Ankit Anand and other working committee members, demanding transparency and accountability in the ongoing construction projects.
