A court in the Iranian capital, Tehran, has sentenced 400 people arrested in anti-government protests to up to 10 years in prison, a judiciary official said. Iran’s Mizan news agency said the court sentenced 160 rioters to between five and 10 years, 80 to two to five years and 160 to two years or less.

Apart from this, 70 people have been fined, Ali Alkasimehr said. However, no details have been provided about them.

The 400 were sentenced to prison a day after the Iranian authorities hanged the second accused, who was originally found guilty of inciting unrest in the country.

Iran’s judiciary announced Monday morning that 23-year-old Majidreza Rahnavard was publicly executed in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
