Jamshedpur: Sonari Residents Protest Over Road Blockage by Local Builder

Residents from six settlements in Sonari, Jamshedpur, have rallied against a local builder, alleging the illegal closure of their colony’s road.

JAMSHEDPUR – Fierce protests were held at the DC office on Monday by the residents of six settlements in the Sonari region of Jamshedpur, led by the people of Nirmal Nagar.

The protestors rallied at the DC office, demanding action against a local builder who they claim has illegally closed off the road to their colony.

According to the demonstrators, who delivered a letter of demand to the DC, they have been residing at their current location for the past 40 to 50 years.

However, a local individual named Gopal allegedly sold their exit point to the builder, they said. The builder is now purportedly constructing a building that effectively blocks the road to the colony, resulting in significant disruption and inconvenience to the residents.

This roadblock potentially creates a serious problem for the settlers as it makes egress from the colony exceedingly difficult.

The inhabitants have appealed to the District Deputy Commissioner to intervene in the situation and prevent their road from being blocked.

They underscored that this issue affects thousands of people living in these settlements, and the road’s closure will significantly hamper their daily lives.
