Mass Defection in Jharkhand as Key JMM and Congress Leaders Join BJP
Major political shift in Jharkhand as JMM’s Baldev Bhuiyan & others join BJP seen as a boost in BJP’s political strength ahead of elections.
Jamshedpur: In a major political shift, several key leaders and hundreds of workers from different parties, including the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
This is seen as a significant setback for the JMM, especially in the Kolhan area.
Prominent among those who defected are Baldev Bhuiyan, brother of former JMM minister Dulal Bhuiyan, and district president of the JMM Dalit wing in Jamshedpur.
Bhuiyan, along with his wife Mamta Bhuiyan, a resident of Palamu, officially switched alliances in the presence of BJP State President Deepak Prakash.
Other notable defectors include JMM leader Ravindra Raju and Congress leader Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi from Chhatrapur.
Upon receiving their new party memberships, Baldev Bhuiyan cited the inspirational works of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the accelerating pace of development in India under his leadership as the reason for their move.
Bhuiyan also expressed disillusionment with the incumbent JMM government under Hemant Soren, accusing them of forgetting their promises and failing to meet the expectations of the state’s people.
Deepak Prakash, BJP State President, welcomed all the defectors and expressed faith in their commitment to the BJP and its principles. Prakash asserted that the new inductees would strengthen the party’s position, not only in the state but also in the upcoming elections.
