Jamshedpur – The General Office Recreation Club (GORC) at Tata Steel Jamshedpur Works marked its Golden Jubilee with a celebratory function held at the GORC Canteen Saturday.
The event commemorated 50 years of service since the canteen’s establishment on April 20, 1973.
Distinguished guests at the event included Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel; Atrayee Sanyal, Vice President of Human Resource Management at Tata Steel; Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President of Tata Workers’ Union (TWU); Zubin Palia, Chairman of GORC; and other senior representatives of the Union and officials, as well as former employees of the GORC Canteen.
During the function, 27 employees, both past and present, were felicitated for their invaluable contributions to the successful operation of the GORC Canteen.
These recognitions highlighted the dedication and commitment of the staff in maintaining the canteen as a vital resource for Tata Steel employees.
The GORC Canteen, located near the General Office gate inside Tata Steel Jamshedpur Works, has undergone several upgrades since its inception.
In 2018, a separate dining hall was created by partitioning the canteen hall, and new furniture and air-conditioners were installed.
In December 2022, the canteen further expanded its offerings by introducing a buffet lunch option for patrons.
The GORC Canteen’s Golden Jubilee celebration not only marks a significant milestone in its history but also serves as a testament to the continued commitment to providing exceptional service and amenities to Tata Steel employees.
