17 Medals Propel IMF East Zone to National Glory in Bengaluru

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) climbers showcased their dominance at the 28th National Sport Climbing Championship 2025 held in Bengaluru from January 18 to 21. Representing the IMF East Zone, TSAF claimed the national title for the fourth consecutive year, amassing 41 points with a remarkable tally of 17 medals.

Stellar Performances Across Events

TSAF athletes excelled in various categories, with standout performances by Harpreet Singh Yadav (Bronze in Junior Boys Bouldering), Amar Khandelwal (Silver in Junior Boys Lead), and Suku Singh, who clinched Gold in both Sub-Junior Boys Bouldering and Lead. Notable performances also included Akash Soren (Bronze in Bouldering and Lead) and Debasish Mahato (Silver in Sub-Junior Boys Lead). Among the girls, Sangita Tiyu earned Silver in Sub-Junior Girls Lead.

In the Open Women’s Bouldering, Joga Purty won Gold, while Muskan Bandra secured Gold in Junior Girls Bouldering. Other medalists included Savitri Samad (Silver) and Nandani Singh (Bronze). Speed climbing saw Akash Soren (Gold) and Sahil Das (Silver) shine in Sub-Junior Boys, with Bhoj Birua earning Silver in Junior Boys. Joga Purty also bagged Gold in Junior Girls Speed, with Muskan Bandra taking Silver.

Contributions from Former TSAF Cadets

Ex-TSAF climbers also contributed significantly to the medal tally while competing for other zones. Aman Verma secured Gold in Open Men’s Bouldering and Silver in Lead. Anisha Verma won Gold in Lead and Bronze in Open Women’s Bouldering, while Sachin Saroj earned a Bronze medal in Open Men’s Lead.

Leadership and Support

The IMF East Zone team, managed by Kumar Gaurav, TSAF Sport Climbing Academy’s coach, and accompanied by manager Roshni Bisht and physiotherapist Disha Dangat, benefitted from exceptional guidance throughout the championship. TSAF’s consistent efforts in nurturing talent from grassroots to elite levels have been instrumental in their sustained success.

Continuing Legacy of Excellence

This victory, following national titles in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024, underscores TSAF’s pivotal role in shaping India’s climbing landscape. Of the 17 medals, 16 were secured by TSAF climbers from Jharkhand, reflecting the state’s dominance in the sport.
