JNAC Promotes Electric Autos in Jamshedpur Under NCAP, Seeks Input from Community

NCAP & JNAC collaborate to reduce air pollution with 31 electric autos, seeking community input to encourage adoption by lowering costs.

JAMSHEDPUR – As part of the National Clean Air Program (NCAP), the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has purchased 31 electric autos to help reduce air pollution in the city.

However, initial efforts to encourage local auto drivers and individuals to operate these vehicles met with resistance due to high security deposit and daily payment requirements.

To address these concerns and facilitate the transition to electric autos, a meeting was held between auto drivers, representatives from self-help groups, third gender community members, and NCAP officials.

Participants discussed ways to increase the number of applications received for the operation of the electric autos.

Auto drivers present at the meeting suggested that if the security deposit and daily payment amounts were reduced, they would be more likely to purchase the electric autos and encourage their fellow drivers to do the same.

The Special Officer in attendance assured that these recommendations would be considered before re-inviting applications and that efforts would be made to minimize the deposit and daily amounts.

The meeting aimed to ensure that a maximum number of third gender individuals and women come forward to drive electric autos.

Durgesh Nandini, Jamshedpur Sadar’s CDPO, emphasized the importance of widespread participation in adopting and operating electric autos on the roads.

Representatives from various organizations and communities attended the meeting, including NCAP’s nodal Sarita Kumari, Assistant Engineer Amit Anand, Junior Engineer Virendra Hembram, SWM expert Saurabh Kumar, and members of the Auto Driver Association and Third Gender community.
