CM orders Change in School Timing Due to Extreme Heat Wave For All Schools
Jharkhand schools change timing due to heat wave; new hours for KG-5th grade, 7am-11am; 6th grade & above, 7am-12pm; outdoor activities halted.
Jamshedpur: In response to the extreme heat wave sweeping across the state of Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has ordered a change in school timetables for the safety of students.
The Department of School Education and Literacy has issued instructions affecting all categories of schools, including government, non-government aided/unaided, minority, and private institutions.
Effective from April 19, 2023, to April 25, 2023, classes for students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be held from 7:00 am to 11:00 am, while classes for students in sixth grade and above will be held from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon.

This temporary schedule adjustment is designed to minimize exposure to the intense heat during the hottest parts of the day.
During this period, prayer meetings, sports, and other outdoor activities will not be conducted under the sun.
However, the mid-day meal program will continue as usual.
School management will receive further guidance on compensation for any loss in education resulting from these changes, the order says.
