Union Minister condemns ‘arrests’, calls Admn action as ‘politically motivated’

Jamshedpur: The Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda visited Ghaghidih Jail in Jamshedpur today, where he met detained social workers, including BJP leader Abhay Singh, District Vice President Sudhanshu Ojha, Advocate Chandan Choubey, and a VHP worker arrested in connection with a recent incident in Jamshedpur.

Arjun Munda has termed the arrest of BJP leader Abhay Singh and other activists as ‘politically motivated’ and advised the administration to not act under ‘political pressure’.

He condemned the arrest of innocent BJP and VHP leaders and workers and said that the arrests reek of political pressure.

Munda’s visit to the jail has enthused the local BJP supporters who now feel that the senior party leadership will not ignore the issue of arrest of its leaders and activists.

The minister spent around 20 minutes inside the jail, during which he listened to Abhay Singh’s account of the incident. Singh claimed that he had not been present at the scene on the day of the Kadma incident and that his arrest was part of a well-thought-out conspiracy. Munda assured those detained that an impartial inquiry would be conducted into the matter.

Accompanying Munda during his visit were BJP leader Shailendra Singh of Adityapur and Bari Murmu, Chairman of Zilla Parishad East Singhbhum.

Munda highlighted the fact that some individuals who had no connection with the recent events in Jamshedpur were arrested from different locations, suggesting that the administration had acted under political pressure.

He emphasized that BJP workers have been working in the greater national interest, and no injustice should be done to them.
