North Korea has welcomed the new year with launch of a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM).

Meanwhile, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff told the media in a message, “Our military is ready to respond appropriately to any provocation by North Korea.”

Incidentally, North Korea launched about 70 ballistic missiles in the recent year.
