4 more arrested on theft charges in Potka and Jadugoda areas
Jamshedpur: Police have arrested four more people in connection with the series of thefts reported from Potka and Jadugoda.
The suspects include Md Afazuddin alias Chhote, a resident of Haldipokhar Muslim Basti, Md Islam, Vikas Kumar from Munger in Bihar, and Md Faheem Alam from Jugsalai Millat Nagar.
Police recovered Rs 21 thousand that they had received on selling the Scorpio that was used to commit these crimes as well as other stolen items.
Earlier police had arrested Govinda Dey in this connection.
The police also got hold of his accomplices including Imtiaz aka Raju who hails from Mazgaon in West Singhbhum district and Taufik alias Nikku who resides at Haldlpokhar
Apart from Potka and Jadugoda, many incidents of theft were carried out by the accused in the nearby areas, the police said.
The SSP Dr M Tamil Vanan said that on 29 December 2021, liquor worth about one lakh was stolen by cutting the shutter of a liquor shop at Jadugoda Police Station.
Besides this incident, there was also an attempt to steal goods from a ration store in Kowali on 18 February night, on which day too an attempt was made to break into an electronic shop located near Heselbeel Road.
While investigating these incidents, police raids were conducted and people involved were arrested.
These included Md Afzuddin alias Chhote and Govinda Dey, the police said.
