Babulal Marandi criticises decision to allocate room for Namaz in Jharkhand Assembly Building

The Decision to allocate a room for namaz in Jharkhand New Assembly Building has drawn scathing criticism from BJP leaders as well as social media users. The Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi has not only flayed the decision, but has also urged the Speaker to withdraw the order immediately.

Desk: The order of Jharkhand Assembly Secretariat to allocate Room No.- TW-348 as a Namaj Room for offering Namaj in the new Assembly Building has come for a severe criticism from the opposition parties as well as citizens. The decision is being widely criticised on social media too.

The order dated September 2, 2021 has been issued and signed by the Deputy Secretary Naveen Kumar of Jharkhand Assembly.

The Leader of Opposition Legislative Party and ex-Chief Minister of Jharkhand Babulal Marandi today said in a tweet: “The Legislative Assembly is that temple of democracy, which cannot be kept within the bounds of any religion or sect.

The allocation of Namaj roomfor a particular section in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly is not only a start to a wrong tradition but also against the democratic values.”

He also urged the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato to immediately withdraw the decision. He said that if the decision is not withdrawn, his party BJP would launch an agitation inside the Assembly as well as on the streets.

Bhanu Pratap Shahi, the ex-health minister of Jharkhand and 3rd time MLA of Bhawnathpur constituency from BJP too has criticised the decision. In a tweet he remarked: “(I am) very worried about the future of Jharkhand. On one hand Congress MLAs openly support Taliban! On the other hand, a Namaz room is being opened in the Assembly Building and third Hindi is being removed and Urdu is being given priority in recruitment policy? Just think in which direction Jharkhand is going, you too should also think about this…”

In another tweet, he remarked: “I do not oppose opening of a Namaz Hall in Jharkhand Assembly. I would just say that we too want to build a Bajrangbali Mandir inside the Assembly. The Speaker should please allow us to do that so that we can worship in a beautiful temple built inside the Assembly.

Social media users too have criticised the decision scathingly and called it a blatant appeasement of the people of a particular religion.
