Jamshedpur: Legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand had once visited Jamshedpur to play an exhibition hockey match in 1933.

Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary on August 29 is celebrated as National Sports Day in India every year. He was one of the greatest hockey players of all time and an Olympian. He earned three Olympic gold medals in 1928, 1932, and 1936. He was known as The Wizard or The Magician for his superb ball control.

He visited Jamshedpur to play an exhibition hockey match in 1933. Dhyan Chand’s team won the match by six goals to one, in which, Dhyan Chand scored three goals.
