Harpal Singh Thapar dies in Ghaghidih Central Jail, family demands probe
Jamshedpur: Harpal Singh Thapar, the director of Mother Teresa Welfare Trust, has died in Ghaghidih Central Jail early Saturday morning. His family members have accused the jail administration of not informing them about his death and the reasons of his death. They demanded an enquiry into the reasons of his untimely death.
The relatives and family members claimed that Harpal Singh Thapar was innocent in the matter and he was implicated in a false case.
They said that he took care of the children like his own daughters, but the same girls levelled despicable charges on him and this had shocked him no end.
The family members charged that the family members were not informed about the ailments he was suffering from as per the jail manual and also about his death in time as they came to know about from news portals.
They claimed that their lawyer informed them about his demise at about 8 in the morning of Saturday.
The sister of the deceased also described her brother as being innocent in the matter.
It may be recalled that two minor girl inmates of Mother Teresa Welfare Trust had levelled serious allegations of sexual impropriety against Harpal Singh Thapar and Pushpa Rani Tirkey.
Acting on the allegations, Jamshedpur police had arrested four accused and had sent them to judicial custody.
However, the reason of death of Harpal Singh Thapar in Ghaghidih Central Jail is not clear yet as the administration has not made any comments on this. The family members have demanded an enquiry into it.
