Displaced Families from Banduhudang Mines Continue Protest Over Five-Point Demands

Protest Halts Ore Transportation as USIL Management Faces Accusations of Inhumane Treatment

Displaced families from the Banduhudang Mines of USIL Turamdih Mines unit in rural Jamshedpur have been on a dharna since June 11, demanding action on their five-point agenda.

JAMSHEDPUR – Displaced families from Banduhudang Mines have been protesting since June 11 at the weighing scale gate of the Banduhudang Open Cast Mines, blocking ore transportation and vowing to continue until their demands are met.

The protest is organized by the Banduhudang Kerwa Dungri displaced and affected family joint committee.

The new president of the committee, Rukmani Ho, stated, “The agitation will continue until our demands are met.”

Rukmani Ho accused the USIL management of cutting off water and electricity at the protest site, causing significant hardship for the elderly, men, women, and children involved.

“People are quenching their thirst by filling water bottles from five kilometers away,” she added. “The USIL management is behaving inhumanly with the displaced people.”

Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar visited the protest site, speaking with the displaced families and assuring them that he would work towards finding a solution after discussing with the management.

A large number of displaced family members are present at the protest, determined to see their demands addressed.
