Pakistan social media erupts in anger as cleric of Lahore madrassa is booked for sexual assault on male student
Social Media Desk: Pakistani social media has erupted in anger as a video showing a cleric of Jamia Manzoorul Islamia sexually assaulting a male student went viral. The leading Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported that Lahore police have finally registered a case against the accused Mufti Azizur Rehman.
According to Dawn, the victim told the police that he was admitted in Jamia Manzoorul Islami in 2013 and during the exams, the Mufti accused him of cheating and got him banned from giving exams for three years.
He said that despite his pleadings the mufti remained unmoved, but said that he might think of something if he ‘made him happy’.
The victim said that he had no other option but to give in to sexual assault from him.
He also said that despite his succumbing to pressure and passage of 3 years, he did nothing for him and even blackmailed him more.
Finally, the victim, made audio and video recordings of his misconduct and showed it to the administration of the institution.
The video somehow surfaced on the social media and the citizens erupted in anger.
However, most shocking was the abject shamelessness and lack of guilt shown by the accused.
The accused too released a video message and claimed that he was drugged by the victim boy as “if he was in his senses, how could the boy have made a video using a mobile phone without him knowing.”
He claimed a conspiracy to have him removed form the madrasah.
The accused was removed from his responsibility.
The entire incident is being discussed with anger on Pakistani social media.
