Prof Digambar Hansda cremated with state honours

Jamshedpur: Professor Digambar Hansda was cremated at Parvati Ghat in Bistupur with state honours Friday. HIs elder son gave the Mukhagni.

The State Transport Minister Champai Soren and several other personalities and eminent citizens were present at Parvati Ghat to bid adieu to the respected professor.

The DC of East Singhbhum Suraj Kumar was also present on the occasion. A posse of security personnel gave him the guard of honour before cremation.

The State Transport Minister Champai Soren described Prof. Digambar Hansda’s demise as a big and irreparable loss to the state.

He said that the state has lost one of its guardians and it would be hard to fill his shoes for anyone else in the near future.

Prof Digambar Hansda remained active till his last days for the development of Santhali language and culture.
