Dead body of 32-year-old youth found in ramshackle lavatory in Sitaramdera

Locals blame illegal substance racket, urge SSP to curb sale of brown sugar

Jamshedpur: The dead body of a 32-year-old youth was found from an abandoned and dilapidated lavatory in Chhaya Nagar under the jurisdiction of Sitaramdera Police station in Jamshedpur on Sunday. The news caused quite a sensation in the entire area.

The police arrived at the site soon after receiving information and tried to send the body for post mortem.

However, the police had to face resistance from the bustee residents and they opposed it. A large number of bustee residents also reached Sitaramdera police station with an intention to gherao it. Later, on the assurance of the police, the locals stopped demonstration.

The locals claimed that the youth had died due to overdose of brown sugar.

It may be added here that the residents in different areas under the jurisdiction of Sitaramdera police station have been complaining about illegal substances trade and misuse rampant in the area. Several times, the locals have raised their voice against the trade of contraband substances. However, despite this, the police have been unable to bust the mafia elements behind the illegal trade.

The members of Hindu Utsav Samity have raised questions over the role of police too. They claim that although the police round up the persons responsible for the illegal substance trade, they manage to come out of legal wrangle soon.

They also urged the SSP of the district to curb the trade of illegal substances in the region.
