Jamshedpur police arrest cyber-fraud mastermind from Kolkata
Accused involved in cheating through e-commerce platforms like Shoppe Pay and FirstKart
Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Police Cyber Cell has busted a major cyber-fraud racket and arrested Rahul Keshri, the mastermind of several cheating cases from Kolkata.
According to the SSP of Jamshedpur, Dr. M Tamil Vanan, the accused were involved in cyber fraud and were operating through e-coomerce websites like Shoppe Pay and FirstKart.
The SSP said that the accused used to operate e-commerce sites and supplied counterfeit items to the customers. When the customers complained about the counterfeit delivery, they would promise to refund the purchase price and would try to extort more money in the name of refund. They would seek more money from the duped customers and would seem their account number, ATM card number or send QR code etc and would even clone their ATM card.
The main accused Rahul Kumar Keshri was arrested from Flat No. 51, DL, Ground Floor, Sanjeeva Garden, New Town in Kolkata.
One laptop, a tab, two mobile phones, one pen drive, 4 ATM cards, one PAN Card and one passport was also seized from the possession of the accused.
The SSP said that the accused have international connections too and they were working in the garb of software developers.
The main accused Rahul Kumar Keshri was involved in four other cyber crime cases registered in the past too.
