NIT Jamshedpur Boosts Local Industry with Incubation Centre Initiative
NIT Jamshedpur’s planned incubation center aims to uplift local industry and provide students with practical experience.
JAMSHEDPUR – In an impactful and inspiring event, the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, under the guidance of alumni RK Behera and his firm RSB, laid out plans for an innovative incubation center.
The center is expected to be equipped with cutting-edge equipment like reverse prototype 3D scanner, high temperature tensile test, surface defect test, micro hardness tester, and a scanning electron microscope with over 1000x magnification.
Notable industrialists such as Hansraj Jain, Vishwajeet Jena, Rohit Anand, Saket Anand, Neeraj Mishra, Guru Karwal Singh, Vikas Garg, Sandeep Mishra, Uttam Kumar, Saikat Ghosh, Sameer Kandulna, Saurabh Chaudhary, Vinay Singh, Rajeev Shukla, and Sameer Singh were present at the event.
After the programme, they visited the soon-to-be-incubation center along with Dr. Hasan and Dr. Ranjit Prasad, the first program instructor and head of the department of metallurgy at NIT.
Dr. Prasad emphasized on the need for student-industry collaboration, referring to the National Education Policy 2020 which mandates industrial internships for students for at least one semester.
He believes that this cooperative model would lead them in the right direction.
The project, according to Professor Gautam Sutradhar, the director of NIT, has been conceptualized to address local industry challenges by offering high-end machinery typically out of reach for average companies.
While the institute’s students and staff will gain valuable real-world experience, the local industries too stand to benefit significantly.
The institute is hopeful of fostering a strong bond with the local business community, integral for the successful development of this incubation center.
