Jamshedpur Muslims protest against France, burn Emmanuel Macron’s effigy
Protestors urge Indian govt to break-off trade relations with France
Jamshedpur: Joining chorus of protests against France and its President Emmanuel Macron, the Muslim youths from Jamshedpur too burnt the effigy of French President and trampled upon the national flag of France on Friday.
Protesting against the decision of France to show cartoons of the Prophet and the French President’s promise to protect the right to caricature the Prophet, angry protestors not only trampled upon and burnt the French national flag, but also burnt the effigy of the French President Emmanuel Macron.
The protestors also urged the Indian government and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break off all trade relations with France to punish them for this act.
One protestor said: “Freedom of expression does not give anyone the right to ‘criticise’ anyone’s religion. Freedom of expression means you can speak against the government, but it does not give you the ‘right to speak against a religion.’
It may be recalled that after brutal beheading of a history teacher in France, the French President Emmanuel Macron had called it an Islamic attack on democratic values and had defended the right to caricature the Prophet.
Muslims from all around the world are protesting against France and French president Emmanuel Macron.
In recent times, France has seen a series of terror attacks. The number of attacks have increased in frequency after the Charlie Hebdo massacre.
