World Tribal Day will be a State Holiday in Jharkhand: CM

Ranchi: The Chief Minister Hemant Soren today declared World Indigenous Day or August 9 as a state holiday for Jharkhand. The day is also celebrated as World Tribal Day world over.

To mark the occasion, the Chief Minister today planted trees at Neelambar-Peetambar Park, Morhabadi in Ranchi.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government has taken a decision to declare August 9 (World Tribal Day) as an official holiday in Jharkhand.

He said that this day is very important as tribals symbolise harmony between nature and culture. Tribals are worshippers of Mother Nature.

He said that it is a matter of pride that those who live in the lap of the nature are celebrating this day.

He said that although the day could not be celebrated in a grand manner due to pandemic, in the coming years it would be celebrated on a greater scale.

The Chief Minister greeted the tribal communities of entire world and hoped that indigenous communities will chart out a path of progress.

The Chief Minister reached the park in a traditional attire. He also played Mandar on the occasion.

He was accompanied by Principal Secretary Rajiv Arun Ekka, Press Adivisor Abhishek Prasad and Senior Private Secretary to the CM, Sunil Kumar Srivastava.
