Barheth Sahebganj OC suspended for beating a girl as video goes viral

Ranchi: The officer-in-charge of Barheth police station in Sahibganj district Inspector Harish Pathak has been sent to police lines and suspended. He now faces action for beating up and misbehaving with a girl.

A video showing the officer-in-charge beating a girl mercilessly in the presence of other police officials has gone viral.

The video was brought to the notice of the Chief Minster Hemant Soren who called it unjustified and shameful. He also said that this is not something that should be tolerated.

The Chief Minister directed the DGP M V Rao to enquire into the matter and take strictest action against the guilty officer-in-charge.

In reply, the DGP M V Rao has informed the Chief Minister that the officer has been sent to the Police Lines and has been suspended.

DSP Barharwa has been directed to enquire and submit the report at the earliest and further appropriate action will be taken on receipt of the report. He said that instructions for the security of the victim have been issued too.

Meanwhile, the person who shot the video that went viral and prompted action in the matter is now alleging that a conspiracy is now being hatched to book him under fake SC/ST case.
