Covid-9 causes first death in Jamshedpur, Sonari citizen succumbs in TMH

Jamshedpur: Covid-19 has caused first death in Jamshedpur. A senior citizen from Sonari has succumbed to Covid-19 related complications in TMH.

The deceased was 71-years-old and had co-morbidities. He was admitted in TMH two days back after being found Covid-19 positive. He lived in a flat near RMS School at Khuntadih, Sonari. A containment zone was created in that area on Friday itself. He had several other ailments and was found positive for Corona only two days back, after which he was admitted in TMH.

However, the most worrying fact is that he had no travel history.

At around 1 p.m. on Saturday, he was declared dead by the doctors.

His last rites would be completed as per the government prescribed protocol.

The dead body is unlikely to be handed over to the family, sources said.

Jamshedpur has Covid-19 wards at two city hospitals, one at TMH and the other at MGMCH.

According to sources, the deceased had co-morbidities which caused complications and despite the efforts from the doctors and the hospital staff could not be saved.

Covid-19 has been spreading its wing fast in the city for the last few days. On Friday, 16 more persons have tested positive for Covid-19 in East Singhbhum district. With this, the total number of infection cases have reached 465 in the district. On Thursday itself 45 persons were found positive in the district.

The total death toll in Jharkhand due to Covid-19 has now gone up to 16.
