Jugsalai Residents Face Acute Water Shortage, Demand Probe

Over 300 families affected by irregular water supply for the past 15 days; residents submit memorandum to union and state authorities alleging anomalies in the water supply scheme.

Residents of Jugsalai, Jamshedpur, are grappling with a severe water crisis as the water supply has come to a virtual standstill in a significant area of the locality for the past 15 days, affecting at least 300 families who are left struggling to meet their basic water needs amid the scorching summer heat.

JAMSHEDPUR – The water woes of Jugsalai residents have reached a breaking point, with over 300 families suffering due to the irregular water supply for the past 15 days.

Local residents claim that the reason behind the non-supply of water remains unclear, adding to their frustration and inconvenience.

Chandra Prakash Pathak, along with several other Jugsalai residents, have raised the issue before the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jamshedpur and submitted a memorandum to the Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat through the DC.

Copies of the memorandum were also sent to the Principal Secretary of the Drinking Water and Cleanliness Minister of the Jharkhand Government and the Governor of Jharkhand, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

The memorandum expresses surprise over the fact that more than 300 families are suffering due to the lack of water supply in a specific area of Jugsalai, despite the scorching summer heat.

It alleges anomalies in the Jugsalai water supply scheme, stating that even after spending around Rs. 20 crore, equitable water supply to different areas of Jugsalai remains a distant dream.

The memorandum points out the stark contrast between areas where residents struggle to get sufficient drinking water and others where water is being wasted.

It suggests that this is the reason why the Jugsalai Municipality has not taken the responsibility of water supply under its own purview.

The residents demand a thorough probe into the entire water supply scheme to ensure that the project is implemented according to the required standards, preventing the people of Jugsalai from bearing the brunt of anomalies and lack of quality in the scheme’s implementation.

The memorandum also highlights several issues related to the water supply scheme, including pipeline water circulation connection and the water tank inflow-outflow meter value.

A delegation comprising Surya Prakash Pathak, Abhinav Goswami, Ankit, Pawan Singh, Tilu Sharma, Sonu Sonkar, Karan Sharma, Prahlad Pathak, Virendra Goswami, Santosh Singh, Pawan Pandey, Suraj Pratap Singh, Vikky, and Nilesh Singh submitted the memorandum to the authorities.

Shaheed Thakur Ji Pathak Welfare Society National Wing leader Surya Pathak and National General Secretary Chandra Prakash Pathak also met with Sudhanshu Ojha, the district president of Jamshedpur Mahanagar BJP, urging him to intervene and ensure a swift resolution to the water supply problems.
