The event was hosted at Pillai Hall, where 2,000 sahiyyas from across the region gathered, with 15 exceptional individuals being recognized for their contributions in healthcare.

Over the next two months, Sahiyya Sammelans are scheduled to welcome more than 6,000 sahiyyas from West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.

Notable attendees included Deepak Birua, MLA of Chaibasa, Dr Shahir Pal, Civil Surgeon of the District, and Dr Amitav Chatterjee from Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital, Jamshedpur.

The event also saw the participation of Ritesh Kumar representing the state government, Anupam Sarkar of the American India Foundation, and senior Tata Steel Foundation members Dr Anuj Bhatnagar and Anil Oraon.

Sourav Roy, CEO of Tata Steel Foundation, underscored the pivotal role of sahiyyas in achieving healthcare goals, including lowering maternal and neonatal mortality rates (MMR and NMR).

He highlighted the MANSI+ initiative’s decade-long journey and innovations such as Prasuti Pratikshalays, which strengthen healthcare delivery to the remotest areas.

The dialogue, led by Bace Buriuly, District Coordinator of MANSI, featured Amit Kumar from Tata Steel Foundation discussing MANSI+’s transformative journey over a decade.

Azmat Azeem, District Programme Coordinator, West Singhbhum, facilitated the recognition and award ceremony for the sahiyyas.

Reflecting on Tata Steel Foundation’s commitment, MANSI+ has evolved into a comprehensive healthcare approach, engaging over 6,000 sahiyyas and 250 field workers to foster health-seeking behaviors and reduce MMR and NMR across Jharkhand’s Kolhan region.
