- Adityapur ward councillor Paritosh Bej and ex-councillor Mamta Bej join JMM with supporters

- Singhbhum MP Joba Majhi attends as chief guest, credits Hemant Soren’s welfare schemes
SERAIKELA — The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha strengthened its organisation in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Saturday when a large number of youth, women and men joined the party at a felicitation event held at the residence of KP Soren, who himself recently switched from the Congress to the JMM.
The event drew significant political attention as BT Das and Mamta Bej — both considered close to former Chief Minister Champai Soren — joined the JMM along with their supporters. Adityapur Municipal Corporation Ward No. 7 councillor Paritosh Bej and prominent social-political activist BT Das were among those who formally enrolled in the party.
BT Das and Mamta Bej had earlier joined the BJP when Champai Soren left the JMM and switched to the BJP. However, both leaders have now returned to the JMM, triggering fresh political discussion in the region.
Speaking at the event, BT Das said that he had gone to the BJP alongside Champai Soren but did not receive the expected respect or role there. He said the JMM values and recognises its workers, which led him to return to what he described as his original political home.
Singhbhum MP Joba Majhi, who attended as chief guest, welcomed all those joining the party. She said people from various parties and sections of society were gravitating toward the JMM because of the welfare work being done under Chief Minister Hemant Soren. She said the state government had been consistently working for farmers, youth, women and the poor.
On the issue of pending centrally sponsored schemes, Joba Majhi said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren had strongly raised Jharkhand’s pending matters before the central government at the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. She expressed hope that the state would soon receive the benefits of those pending schemes.
KP Soren said the support he had been receiving from various communities after leaving the Congress was encouraging. He said the JMM was the party that fought for Jharkhand’s identity, and for jal-jungle-zameen and the rights of tribals and indigenous people. It was this ideology, he said, that had drawn him to the party.
The programme was also attended by senior JMM leaders including Abhay Jha and Sanjay Kumar, along with a large number of party workers and supporters. New members were welcomed with garlands at the event.
