Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital in Jamshedpur ushers in a new era of comprehensive cancer care with increased beds, cutting-edge technology, and outreach initiatives in collaboration with Tata Steel Foundation.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a move signaling heightened commitment to cancer care, the Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital (MTMH) in Jamshedpur, originally founded in 1975, has undertaken significant expansion and modernization initiatives.
Mr. Ratan Tata laid the foundation for the expansion project on 2nd March 2018, and by 2019, a new building had risen in the campus, connected to MTMH via a skybridge.
Both structures together now feature an OPD, Medical Oncology and Radiotherapy wards, and a 40-bedded Day Care Chemotherapy ward, among other facilities.
The number of beds has surged from 72 to 128, making it a comprehensive 128-bedded cancer care facility, as approved by Tata Trusts in 2017.
The hospital has also set up a 4-bedded ICU in 2022, supported by Manish Metals, in memory of its founder, Shri Naro Babu.
The technological acumen of the hospital has witnessed an uptick with the inclusion of a state-of-the-art True Beam radiotherapy machine, significantly elevating its treatment capabilities.
Further enhancing its diagnostic capabilities, a new PET-CT machine and Lutetium therapy for prostate cancer patients have been incorporated.
In conjunction with the Tata Steel Foundation, MTMH is committed to cancer screening in rural areas and also supports treatment for economically disadvantaged patients through the Ayushman scheme and donations from corporate houses and NGOs.
In line with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, MTMH, in association with Tata Steel Foundation, will focus on spreading awareness about the importance of early detection and will install a new mammography machine equipped with tomography.
