BJP, Allies Anticipated to Lead Jharkhand Polls: Exit Polls

Exit polls suggest a narrow lead for NDA in Jharkhand Assembly elections, predicting close contests in key constituencies.

Key Points:

  • NDA forecasted to lead in exit polls, followed closely by INDIA bloc.

  • Jamshedpur East and West remain fiercely contested constituencies.

  • Final results to be announced on November 23.

JAMSHEDPUR – As the Jharkhand Assembly elections concluded on November 20, exit polls revealed a tight contest between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the INDIA bloc. While the NDA appears poised to gain an upper hand, specific constituencies, including Jamshedpur East and West, remain too close to call.

The two-phase election covered 81 seats across the state. Most polls suggest the NDA leading, while the INDIA bloc is predicted to hold significant ground. The Poll of Polls averages the NDA at 40-45 seats, the INDIA bloc at 27-32, and others at 4 seats.

Key Constituencies in Focus

Jamshedpur East and West have drawn special attention due to their tight margins. One agency forecasts a potential win for JDU in Jamshedpur West, adding intrigue to the final results.

The elections saw 44 general-category seats contested, with 28 reserved for Scheduled Tribes and 9 for Scheduled Castes. As the tenure of the current legislature ends on January 5, 2025, all eyes are on November 23 for the final count.

“The electorate has spoken. Now, the numbers will decide Jharkhand’s direction,” remarked political analyst Ramesh Tiwari.
