CHAIBASA – Police in West Singhbhum have arrested a man with 30 small packets of brown sugar during a raid near the Amla Tola Railway underpass in Chaibasa.
According to SDPO Bahaman Tuti, a special team was formed after a tip-off about drug sales in the area. The team raided the site and apprehended a youth named Manish near a closed railway cabin.
During the search, officers recovered 30 packets of brown sugar from his possession. However, interrogation revealed that he procured the drugs from a supplier identified as Firdous Ansari from Adityapur’s Muslim Basti.
Moreover, police said Manish used to sell the drugs locally for profit. A case has been registered at Sadar Police Station, and the accused has been sent to judicial custody after questioning.
Meanwhile, raids are underway to locate the main supplier and other members of the drug network. “We will soon arrest the mastermind,” an officer said. The SDPO added that a continuous campaign against narcotics is being enforced across the district.
