Former Bistupur police chief and officer detail 2016 arrest of alleged Al Qaeda operative

Former Bistupur police officials provide crucial testimonies in the ongoing Al Qaeda trial, supporting the prosecution’s case against accused operatives.

JAMSHEDPUR – Former Bistupur police station in-charge Jitendra Kumar Singh and policeman Dilip Kumar Yadav offered key testimonies in the Al Qaeda trial before ADJ-1 Vimalesh Kumar Sahay.

Singh, now DSP in Pakur Sadar, recounted the events of January 22, 2016, when he received information about Ahmed Masood Akram Sheikh’s alleged Al Qaeda links.

The former police chief stated that Masood initially denied involvement but later admitted his association with Al Qaeda on January 25, 2016.

Masood reportedly revealed his connection to Abdul Rehman alias Katki and his Jihadi training in Saudi Arabia.

A 9 mm loaded pistol was seized from Masood’s residence during the investigation.

Singh’s testimony highlighted Maulana Kalimuddin’s house in Mango as a recruitment hub for the organization.

Dilip Kumar Yadav, currently an assistant sub-inspector at Hatia railway station, testified about his role in the Bistupur police station raid.

The accused, Ahmed Masood Akram alias Masood and Abdul Rehman alias Katki, appeared via video conference, while Raju alias Naseem Akhtar was present in person.

The Supreme Court has mandated that this case be resolved within six months.

Seven witnesses have testified to date, with the next hearing scheduled for August 7.
