Corona claims 5 lives in Jharkhand on Tuesday in shocking spurt

Total deaths jump to 1,025, 230 new cases detected

Ranchi: In a shocking and sudden spurt in the number of deaths caused by coronavirus in Jharkhand, 5 deaths were reported in the state on Tuesday taking the total death toll to 1025.

For the last several weeks, the daily deaths caused by coronavirus had come down dramatically to nil or 1 to 2. For several days, the daily deaths did not exceed 2.

However, on Tuesday, 5 deaths have been reported in the state due to coronavirus showing a disturbing sign for the state, even while a more infectious UK-origin variant of corona has been reported in India for the first time.

On Tuesday, 1 death was reported from Dhanbad district, 1 from Hazaribagh and 3 from Ranchi.

The recovery rate in the state is at 97.7%, while the mortality rate is at 0.89%.

As per official data, 230 new cases have been detected in the state on Tuesday, taking the number of total infections to 1,14,650. Out of these, 1,12,021 have already been cured. On Tuesday too, 203 patients have been cured and discharged.

For now, the state has 1,605 active cases of coronavirus infection, while the deaths have reached the figure of 1,025.

Till date, 47,67,543 samples have been tested in the district.
