JAMSHEDPUR – Authorities have accelerated preparations for Census 2026, which will be conducted entirely through digital systems for the first time.
The administration in East Singhbhum has intensified preparations for the upcoming census exercise. Meanwhile, a detailed briefing was shared during a press conference led by Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan.
The official stated the entire process will shift to a digital platform. Moreover, this move aims to ensure faster data collection and greater accuracy.
For the first time, citizens can complete self-enumeration online. However, this feature will be available starting May 1, 2026.
Residents will enter their details through an official portal. Meanwhile, each individual will receive a unique ID via mobile or email.
This identification system will help in secure verification. Moreover, it is expected to reduce duplication and errors.
The district has been divided into multiple enumeration zones. Meanwhile, teams are actively working across urban and rural areas.
Authorities have already planned structured timelines for execution. In contrast, traditional manual processes have been largely replaced.
The training phase will run from April 27 to May 13. Meanwhile, field surveys will be conducted between May 16 and June 14.
Officials said enumerators will visit households during this phase. Moreover, digital tools will be used for real-time data entry.
The administration has urged residents to participate actively. However, accurate information submission remains crucial for national planning.
According to officials, census data supports government policy decisions. Meanwhile, it helps in resource allocation and development planning.
The digital census aligns with national initiatives promoting e-governance. In contrast, earlier methods relied heavily on paper-based collection.
Authorities emphasized that public cooperation is essential. Moreover, timely participation will ensure smooth completion of the exercise.
The initiative is expected to modernize demographic data collection in Jamshedpur. Meanwhile, it reflects a broader shift toward technology-driven governance.
