Attack Occurs Hours Before Scheduled Engagement Ceremony

JAMSHEDPUR – A ward councillor in Saran died after being stabbed during a violent clash hours before his engagement ceremony.

The incident occurred in Saran district under Manjhi Nagar Panchayat area. The deceased was identified as Raja Babu Thakur. He was the elected councillor of ward number nine.

Meanwhile, the attack took place late in the evening around 9 pm. The victim and his relatives were preparing for a tilak ceremony.

However, a dispute broke out with neighbouring individuals during preparations. The argument soon escalated into a violent physical confrontation.

During the clash, sharp weapons were used by the attackers. As a result, three members from one family suffered serious injuries.

Moreover, Raja Babu Thakur sustained critical stab wounds in the attack. He was rushed to a local health centre for initial treatment.

Meanwhile, doctors referred the injured to Chapra Sadar Hospital. However, he died on the way around 11:30 pm.

In contrast, two other injured relatives are undergoing treatment. They were identified as Mukesh Thakur and Ritesh Thakur.

Meanwhile, both remain in critical condition at the hospital. Doctors are monitoring their situation closely.

The incident turned a festive atmosphere into mourning. Family members were preparing for the engagement ceremony scheduled the next day.

Moreover, a tent and decorations were already arranged at the residence. Several relatives had also arrived for the celebration.

However, the sudden violence led to chaos in the village. The family members broke down after the tragic death.

Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information. The operation was led by the local station in-charge.

Meanwhile, raids were launched to arrest the accused involved. Additional police forces were deployed to maintain law and order.

Senior officials also visited the crime scene for investigation. They directed officers to ensure swift action.

Raja Babu Thakur was the eldest among six siblings. His death has created tension in the locality.

Meanwhile, such violent disputes have raised concerns across regions like Patna and nearby districts. Authorities continue efforts to prevent further escalation.
